Dogproofracoonbubble - This Drinking Water Is Not For Sale

Dogproofracoonbubble - This Drinking Water Is Not For Sale
Originally Released 2001

Can there be such a thing as outsider art in noise? Is there an inside? If there is an outside then Dogproofracoonbubble is there far on the periphery of even that. This cassette maybe isn't as weird or far-reaching as 57 Different Versions Of The Same 5 Children Live In Me but damn I love this stuff. It has a very evocative sound, maybe just for me personally, I don't know. It sounds like you grabbed a cassette out of a crumbling cardboard carton in a dream and woke up with it in your hand.

Hyperdriver/4 Flies On Grey Velvet - Split

Hyperdriver/4 Flies On Grey Velvet - Split
Originally Released 1999

Hyperdriver's label, Beergut Recordings put this tape out, and their side is a thick slab of battered noise whooshing and wapwapwapping with some clean-ish guitar or samples pushing through the fuzz, more wooshing, then overdriven rhythmbox beats with short sequenced bass loops, followed by wooshing! The whole thing has kind of a digital effects feel to it, not like a computer but like the effects built in to like a SP sampler, if that makes sense. Looking at Hyperdriver's discog's page it seems like they're still making music and apparently moved a couple degrees further into the beats and noises world of breakcore/speedcore! 4 Flies On Grey Velvet serves up a 30 minute splatter of harsh loops and chopped up sounds of all kinds- mixer feedback? Mangled tapes? Unearthly voices? Yes yes yes! Jason Campbell of 4FOGV is of course still active as well just look at this! Anyway here is some more old noise you old noise people-

Gasolineman/Prurient - Split

Gasolineman/Prurient - Split
Originally released 2000

This tape has such good art. That's it. Gasolineman is good, Prurient is doin the early 2000's thing they were doin, and the whole thing is like 20 minutes long. It's harsh noise! I don't really have anything to say about it. It's not especially unique or exciting, it's just standard, reliable, early 2000's harsh noise.

Brian T Cox - Fright Night In The House Of Horrors & Swamp Of the Living Dead

Brian T Cox - Fright Night In The House Of Horrors
Brian T Cox - Swamp Of The Living Dead
Originally released 1994

Okay so this is a cheat for sure but it's October 1st and I'm posting this shit! The artwork alone makes it worth it, but I enjoy these tapes for how loose they sound, like Brian just had a mic running through some reverb and whoever came through the kitchen had to get on the mic and go "AH HA HA HA HA" before they could microwave their Hot Pocket or get a glass of Kool Aid. Plus the fact that they aren't split into tracks like the BBC sound effects records, it's a continuous piece on each side, it's almost like what your mom would do if you told her to make a noise album! And then convinced gas stations to sell it!
